This is our first Toy review as part of the Argos Chad Valley Play Panel. Leon received his first Chad Valley delivery this week which was this wooden castle. Other than the fort, it also includes 20 wooden knights and a catapult with 3 canon balls. There are also 2 hanging ladders.

The castle comes flatpacked so I decided to build it the night before as it takes a little while to build. I didnt want Leon all excited to play with his pressie and then stressing me out to build it. Because I am not great at building stuff, I got the hubbie to do it the night before and it took 15 minutes. (It would have probably taken me an hour only because I am basically incapable of assembling flat packs) We had it all ready for him in his room so that when he woke up the next morning it would be ready to play with (He was asleep in my bed at the time. And most of the time actually)

He was SOOO EXCITED when he saw it and went straight on the floor to play even before breakfast (anyone that knows Leon will know, that it is quite unheard of. Breakfast is always first)

He couldnt belive it when I showed him the catapult and that you can fire the balls into the castle. He thought it was hillarious and couldn’t stop laughing.

The front entrance of the castle is a drawbridge that can be opened and closed using a winch. I absolutely love the fact there are no batteries in this and everything is done mechanically.

There are two hanging ladders that can be put up whenever a knight needs to climb up anywhere.

The games to be played with this beautiful wooden castle are endless. Leon started off with just the soldiers that came with it and played for hours. The following day, he added some of his other toys to the game which led to his imagination running wild. He fired some angry birds with the catapult

and had Batmans Robin climbing into the castle escaping from baddies.

He also had transformers take over the castle and all the knights and soldiers were defending it. The castle is stunning and looks so nice in Leon’s room that I don’t feel the need to put it away after playing.
